FrameScript Operation

The FrameScript installation process creates a new FrameMaker menu item named  FrameScript.

The pull-down commands under the main menu item start FrameScript operation:

  • Run - executes a script
  • Install - installs a script for operation
  • Uninstall - uninstalls previously installed scripts
  • Script Window - provides a script editing environment
  • Options - allows the setting of FrameScript attributes
  • Compile - compiles a script for use
  • Scripts - a listing of installed scripts

The following information provides a brief overview of the menu items and dialog boxes. For detailed information, please refer to the FrameScript documentation.

Executing a Script (Run...)

To execute a script, select FrameScript->Run command. This will display the Select a Script dialog box.

Choose a script to run by double clicking on a script file name or by clicking once on a script file name and clicking the Select button. This will begin the execution of the selected script.

Installing a Script (Install...)

To install a script, select FrameScript->Install command. This will display the Select a Script dialog box. Choose a script to install by double clicking on a script file name or by clicking once on a script file name and clicking the Select button. This will display the FrameScript Standard Script Installation dialog box.

This dialog box allows the attributes of the script operation to be set.

The Script Window (Script Window...)

The Script Window is displayed by selecting the FrameScript->Script Window command.

The Script Window can be used to develop new scripts and modify existing scripts. Scripts can also be developed and modified in any text editor.

The Options Window (Options...)

The Options Window is displayed by selecting the FrameScript->Options command.

This allows a number of FrameScript environment attributes to be set including file extensions, scripts that execute on start-up, default directories, menu items.

 

Compile Process (Compile...)

The script Compile process is started by selecting the FrameScript->Compile command. This will display the Select a Script dialog box. Choose a script to compile by double clicking on a script file name or by clicking once on a script file name and clicking the Select button. This will display the Enter output file name dialog box.

Use the default script compiled name or create a new name and click the Save button. This will compile the selected script.

Scripts Menu Item (Scripts...)

The Scripts menu item command lists all the scripts that have been installed for use. Scripts are installed using the Install menu command and removed using the uninstall menu command.
